Driving to Courchevel

Many people choose to drive to Courchevel as it is the easiest way to get there with the most freedom. Travelling by car, especially if you car share with your whole group, can also cut your carbon footprint for travel to the Alps in half.

You can either drive straight from home to the resort, using the ferry or euro tunnel if you live in the UK. Or, if you chose to fly from the UK you can rent a hire car from the airport.
How long does it take to drive? And how much will it cost?

To give you a rough idea, we have created this self explanatory table from major european cities.

Eurotunnel or the Ferry?

You will need to book your eurotunnel crossing in advance. There are up to four departures per hour, and the channel crossing itself takes only 35 minutes.

For more information on prices and to book your crossing, click here.

You can book your ferry through P&O, for the best deals. The ferry runs 123 times a day from Dover to Calais and the crossing time is an hour and a half.

French roads

Driving in France especially in the snowy mountains can be daunting for a lot of drivers. Therefore it is really important to understand French road signs and rules to help your journey.

Car Hire

You can also hire a car, which gives you freedom from when you arrive at the airport, and in the resort. You can pre-book, or simply hire when you get to the airport. Whilst an easy method, it can be more difficult to drive in snowy or icy conditions, and traffic can be bad when conditions are bad.

It is the most cost-effective way of getting to resort and you can hire fully equipped cars (snow tyres &/or chains) at Geneva, Lyon or Chambery Airports. Please ask us for self-drive directions.
